Irish Country Inn with Accommodation, Guided Tours and Country Pursuits

You do not have to stay in Clonalis to enjoy the surroundings. For many years Clonalis has been open to those wishing to visit the house. We provide guided tours of the property. It is possible to visit Clonalis House between 1st June to 31st August, tour between 11am and 4pm, Monday to Saturday.

Please note the House is closed to the public on Sundays. Tours take approximately 45 minutes. Last tour is at 4.00pm.

Activities in the Area

Clonalis provides an ideal base to tour not only Co Roscommon but Galway, Mayo and Sligo. The extensive woodlands provide a beautiful setting for resting and relaxing. Located close to the courtyard is a hard surface tennis court. Brown trout and coarse fishing are also available on the River Suck, a river which runs through the Estate or on the nearby Lake O'Flynn (6 miles), where boats are available for hire.

In season Clonalis has an excellent woodcock shoot in its 250 acres of deciduous and coniferous forestry plantations and is approved by the Irish Forestry and Wildlife Service for this purpose. Altogether the Estate retains shooting rights over 5000 acres of bog and woodland.

Clonalis is located close (1 mile) to Castlerea Golf Club, a challenging 9 hole woodland golf course. Within a radius of one hours drive there are five championship golf courses, including Enniscrone, Rosses Point and Glasson.

Clonalis is also 16 miles from Strokestown Park House and Famine Museum and King House, Boyle both of which are open to the public. Clonalis is also just 16 miles from the Basilica of Our Lady at Knock Co Mayo.

For those wishing to trace the built heritage of the O'Conors of Connacht, one of Ireland's most illustrious Clans, Clonalis is surrounded by many Castles, Abbeys and other historic sites associated with the Clan over the past two thousand years (see our History page)
